How Do I Write a Letter?

Friends at Concordia Lutheran Ministries Foundation, thank you for taking a step of faith to become a child’s correspondent! Letters bring hope and encouragement to children in Kenya and Ethiopia who are living in poverty. Your words and photos tangibly show these precious children that they are known and loved. On hard days, your letters remind them that someone is praying for them. By taking a few minutes to write a letter to the child you correspond with, you have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

However, you may be asking yourself “where do I start?” Staring at a blank page can be overwhelming. The good news is letter-writing doesn’t have to be complicated! We are here to guide you through not only how to write a letter to your child but also what to write.

When children receive a letter from their correspondent, they are filled with joy! Just knowing that you took time to write them and are praying for them brings hope. We hear from participants that they love learning about you and sharing their stories with you as well. It can be as simple as sharing about the weather where you live, your pets and your family. You also can share prayers and Bible verses with children to encourage them in their faith. Children feel seen and known when you ask them questions about their families, friends, communities or school.
